Thank you for this! I had someone (Who was not vegan) try to tell me nothing was vegan at Starbucks! I know when I told him that the bagels were and he didn’t respond back, that I was right. LOL So I just shared your list on my page and made sure to do a little “Throw Back” to that person, just to show they don’t know everything like they make it seem. Especially something that they don’t live, EAT, and breathe…VEGANISM!

A macchiato is just espresso and milk foam. No caramel, unless you order a caramel macchiato and that was not listed.

Most of the frapps are vegan (a few aren’t) of course you have to sub with soy milk and no whip. The light flavorings (including raspberry) are vegan.

Actually the Chai Tea concentrate for iced latte’s and hot ones isn’t vegan. Even if you ask for soy milk (obviously…since it’s the concentrate). It has honey in it. There are vegan chai concentrate’s you can buy at home though: Kilogram and Oregon Tea has a vegan mix as well as non vegan (honey).

Latte’s and Macchiato’s don’t get whip cream anyway, there is no need to add that. Also, the white mocha is also not vegan, it contains milk. Honestly though, the stuff that IS in the flavorings is not good for anyone, and Sbux is best to be avoided at all cost.

The hazelnut drizzle they put on top of lattes or frappes is not vegan either. I thought it was odd, but the barista notified me when I ordered a hazelnut macchiato with soy milk.

Most of us that are vegan are very health conscious. Soy is not a very good non dairy substitute. In fact I think it is as unhealthy as dairy. A better choice would be almond or coconut milk. Also there are whipped cream replacements. One that I get for the holidays is whipped rice milk (comes in a can). Sugar replacements would be any that are not refined. Some mom and pop coffee shops that I have gone to carry “pure” stevia or maple sryup etc. But I can honestly say those of us that are health conscious avoid Starbucks.

Coffee is incredibly healthy. It is a natural way to reduce asthma symptoms and pain, and is great before a workout to prevent muscle soreness. The only reason those anti-vaxx natural-fetish quacks don’t promote it is that they’re not the ones making money selling it.

They do make a bundle scaring people off of soy, though. They use vague terms like “is linked to” to create fear from studies where mice eat twice their body weight in soy. I suppose that explains why the entire country of Japan is so terribly sick?

I never knew that! OMG! I used to do honey as a natural allergy thing to help back when I was just vegetarian, but now that I’ve been vegan for a few years I’ve started to get Hayfever.
I’ve had asthma growing up as a child, and it was super terrible, I haven’t had an attack in years, but sometimes feel like I’m getting close to it when I run(especially in the winter, I avoid running because of that). But allergens can sometimes trigger attacks, so if it helps it, that’d be awesome.
Now I just need to find a way to actually LIKE coffee.

It took me a while to acquire the taste. I kept drinking it because it helped (on top of my daily meds of course) and eventually grew to like it. What worked for me was using atevia then shrinking the amount little by little.

Tazo chai has honey in it. Hate to sound snoody, but I’m a strict vegan for actual animal rights reasons (the only reason to call yourself vegan, imo) and neither I, nor my peers ingest honey.
That would be a “beegan”, lol.
Also, I may be wrong, but I feel like last time I checked, the oatmeal had nonfat dry milk or something like that. I’m gonna check up on this and reply In this thread when I know for sure.
To add another note, L-cysteine is an amino acid found in commercial baked goods, it is derived from either human or non-human animal hair. This is found in most bagels at large chain corporate coffee shops. Also, it would help to write a letter to sbux In order to truly get to the bottom of this.

L-cysteine is not listed on the ingredients for the multigrain or sesame bagels, so I think you’re safe. I’m not actually sure about powdered milk in the oatmeal.

You can always ask to read the ingrediants or have the barista read them. I know it maybe unreal to fathom, there are those that don’t know how to read the ingreidiant list (that it even exist).

So anything that is a “sauce” at Starbucks has milk ingreidient, including the cinn dolce sprinkles, has butter. The chocolate curls around the holiday is vegan friendly. Oprah Chai is vegan has well.
The newest item is the cinn raisin bagel- vegan friendly.

What I don’t get, is the veggie salad has a dressing that isn’t vegan friendly, but the chicken salad has a dressing that is vegan friendly.

No. The chocolate chips have milk in them. However, a mocha frappucino w/ almond milk, no whip is vegan because the mocha/chocolate drizzle is vegan.

Please see nutrition facts on starbucks website. it says that it does not guarantee that any of its products are allergen free including (eggs, soy, nuts, and others …). So, how can their products be considered vegan if they make and store everything on a shared equipment. Yes, the ingredients are vegan but the products are smeared all over with non-vegan stuff. Interesting… I guess it depends on how vegan one is.

It’s mostly for legal reasons. If you order cold drinks, your milk goes straight into your new cup. However, if you want something hot, the steam wand for the milk is shared. Soy, and Coconut/Almond have their own pitchers to steam in and the steaming wand gets sanitized after every drink, but if you say you have mild allergies, the barista will most likely accommodate and sanitize everything more than usual.

Most bagels are originally vegan (egg or cheese bagel excepted). Some places use an egg white wash to make them shiny, but things like plain and whole wheat bagels are usually egg and dairy free.

A flat white is also an option when ordered with a milk alternative. I order mine with an extra shot & coconut milk. I choose to eat plant based due to being a beekeeper. We need bees and they are dying at rapid rates. Let’s build each other up instead of tearing down. Plant based or vegan – support each other.
